Texas Congressional District Project Objectives: To gain a better understanding of the levels and responsibilities of U.S. government within the state of Texas; to increase knowledge of information resources for U.S. government; to increase understanding of a U.S. Representatives responsibilities; to increase knowledge of political party organization within Texas; to enhance research skills. Instructions. For the Texas Congressional District you have been assigned, gather the following information and provide the following answers. Your papers should follow this same outline and flow. Your papers should include the question or prompt followed by your answer and the source of your information, which will likely include the URL; providing of the URL is part of the assignment. Failure to supply the URLs for each question/answer will result in point deductions for each such omission. Congressional District Information Since 2016, which party has won this district in each U.S. House election? Pick 3 Texas counties within this district (there may not be three counties). What was the percentage of votes for each presidential candidate in 2020 for these political parties for each of these counties: Democratic, Republican, Libertarian, and Green? What are the two most populous cities in this District? Provide the names and the population of those two cities. Provide the following information regarding political parties: Choose one of those counties you identified above. For both the Democratic and Republican Parties: identify any current Chairperson by name and official address. Choose one of those counties you identified above and provide the names of the current members of the County Executive Committee for either the Republican or Democratic Party. What previous government experience do they have? (i.e., what previous elected or appointed government positions have they held local, state or federal positions?) Which committees and subcommittees in the US House does this representative serve on? List two bills that have been sponsored by this Representative in the past five years. Give the number and caption (title) of the bills. Name one interest group that supported this Representatives election in either 2018 or 2020.
